These are hand-made in Mexico from wet clay that is extruded into shape, then fired. They vary in colour, texture and appearance. This can result in tiles that are less dimensionally consistent than pressed tiles.

Saltillo, or mexican tile as they are sometimes called, are often used outside or where a rustic effect is wanted. They do need to be coated with sealers to prevent wearing of the surface.
